Advanced Technologies for Promotion of Cultural Heritage: the Case of Bronzes of Riace

Calabria region (in Southern Italy) is a territory with a high cultural value. In fact, most of its findings come from the Magna Graecia period (VII cent. B.D. and I cent. A.D). Although this heritage, most of these findings are not still promoted at all. Current advances in technologies could provide new tools capable to improve the diffusion of Calabrian archaeological heritage in a global perspective, by attracting the interest of a wider range of population. The aim of this paper is to investigate new approaches for the diffusion of cultural heritage, by analyzing the case of the Bronzes of Riace (symbol of the region) and, focusing on the use of advanced technologies like virtual environments, mobile devices (i.e. iPhone) and stereoscopic tools.
